On Thursday, May 23, 2002, the Live Cattle average live deliverable weight will be increased by 25 pounds to 1,325 pounds.  The individual animal live weight will also be increased by 25 pounds to 1,375 pounds.  The increase is recommended due to an evident trend in increased weights for slaughter steers

In addition, it is recommended that the regular listing cycle of Live Cattle futures and options be resumed.  The listing will begin with the June 2003 futures contract.  The weight increase will be applied to newly listed contracts beginning with the June 2003 contract.
